This lecture provides an overview of Ulcerative Colitis, exploring its aetiology and pathology. We delve into the unknown cause with proposed theories, including the infective theory without a specific pathogen and psychosomatic factors influencing exacerbations. Additionally, we examine the disease's pathological characteristics, such as its limitation to mucosal and submucosal layers, initial rectal involvement progressing through the colon, and occasional terminal ileum involvement.
